To my delight, I either hadn’t read one of them (or was so into early motherhood that I didn’t take it in), so I got to revel in what felt like a brand new book.Īfter that, I went backwards and read several others and oh, it makes me nostalgic for the first time reading them! The book didn’t disappoint, except that I was left with a terrible book hangover and had to go and read several of his other books set in Newford.

It’s set in my favourite ‘world’ too, Newford, that’s a liminal type North American small city so with an element of the fantastic.

CdL is possibly my favourite author (I know that’s indecisive but I really enjoy many genres.) So when I heard he’d written a new novella I jumped at the chance to read it.
